HVAC Sr. Project Manager – Columbus Ohio

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Project Profitability & Timeliness:

    • Responsible for the overall profitability of assigned projects, ensuring that all requirements are met and timelines are adhered to.
    • Ensure timely billing, change orders, collections, and other administrative tasks are completed for each project.
    • Keep management informed on all project issues, updates, and potential risks.
  • Job Cost & Status Analysis:

    • Review monthly job cost, status, manpower, and change order reports to assess project performance.
    • Conduct regular monthly reviews of job costs to ensure accurate profitability analysis and resolve any project issues.
  • Communication & Troubleshooting:

    • Collaborate with project superintendents, construction managers, and general contractors to resolve project-related issues.
    • Communicate effectively with project teams, administrative assistants, and other departments via meetings, emails, and memos.
  • Resource Coordination:

    • Ensure the proper allocation of manpower and equipment for each job based on project needs.
    • Oversee the buyout process, job closeouts, and project change orders to ensure all projects are completed to specification.
  • Job-Site Management:

    • Conduct and attend weekly job-site visits and meetings to ensure project goals are being met.
    • Ensure proper job setup, including contract review, estimated costs, and schedule of values, are done accurately and on time.
  • Project Reporting:

    • Generate project manager reports and attend project management meetings as needed to ensure the smooth progression of projects.
  • Submittals & Purchasing:

    • Track submittals for each project, generate purchase orders, and negotiate subcontracts and purchases to meet project requirements.
  • Miscellaneous:

    • Perform all other duties as assigned to support the successful completion of projects.

Qualifications and Experience:

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the HVAC trades.
  • At least 5 years of prior project management experience in the plumbing and HVAC sectors.

Job Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • In-depth knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation.
  • Strong math and basic accounting skills for managing budgets and estimating costs.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, project management software).
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with an attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members, clients, and contractors.

Education:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Journeyman Plumber license or equivalent experience.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of climbing onto/off equipment and ladders (extension/permanently attached ladder).
  • Able to work at extreme heights.
  • Comfortable working in varied weather conditions.
  • Able to walk job sites with moving equipment and navigate construction zones

 

Special Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • OSHA 10 certification (or ability to obtain).
