Reporting to the Regional President, the Branch Manager of Construction must demonstrate competency in the following areas: good judgement and understanding of risk management, and interpersonal skills required to interact with Senior Management of Owner’s, CM’s, Engineers, Architects and Subcontractors. The Branch Leader will be required to make decisions that affect the financial success of the Company and therefore must be fully knowledgeable in the construction business with a high level of financial and HVAC knowledge.
Responsibilities:
• Directly manage relationships with Owners, General Contractors, Engineers, Architects and Subcontractors.
• Responsible for review and approval of all proposals and cost estimates to ensure profitability requirements are achieved.
• Attend all Turn-Over Meetings to assure a smooth transition from Estimating to Construction.
• Assure that the construction office and field staff have all the tools necessary to complete their projects effectively and efficiently as possible.
• Support, review and negotiate Contracts with the General Manager.
• Provide sales support to estimators to build backlog.
• Directly responsible for delivering bids on all projects.
• Review and enforce all contracts, plans, specifications, submittals, etc. to assure that the Company is compliant with the terms of our construction contracts.
• Provide oversight of the Safety Manager to assure all projects are completed safely and without accidents.
• Participate in Safety Events for the Company and continuously drive the Safety Culture of the Company.
• Meet with Project Managers and Superintendents on a weekly basis to review Management Reports ensuring project management processes are being used, followed and are up to date to assure that projects are tracking to be profitable.
• Complete monthly Cost to Complete meetings on all projects with accurate budget updates from all Project Managers.
• Issue and track all change orders to assure approval prior to implementing the work.
• Manage invoicing and AR on all projects.
• Provide support to Project Managers and Superintendents on issues that pose financial risk to the Company.
• Create training plans so that all construction employees are properly trained in all aspects of construction including Safety.
• Assure RFI’s are submitted by the DCS when required and are responded to by CM’s and/or EOR.
• Perform annual reviews of Operation Managers, Estimators, and Safety Manager, Project Managers and Superintendents as well as ensuring that field staff receives annual reviews.
• Assist with recruiting and retention of field staff and ensure that construction personnel are paid at, or above the current market rate.
• Assure that all construction projects achieve a contribution margin as bid.
• Provide oversight to assure the Superintendents organize and schedule training for all construction personnel, ensuring that field staff are fully trained to meet the needs of Company projects.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• 10-15 years of experience managing Mechanical construction projects.
• Ability to identify and articulate problems and develop solutions to these problems.
• Experience with implementation and adherence to processes.
• Ability to identify and correct inefficiencies.
• Experience leading multiple teams towards successfully achieving goals.
• Ability to influence decision making processes and team buy in on those decisions.
