Job Summary:
The DDC Startup/Commissioning Technician will be responsible for the testing and documentation of control points to ensure that hardware and software meet sequence of operations and that systems function as expected. This role is ideal for candidates who want to advance in the building automation and HVAC controls industry while playing a key role in the commissioning and startup of complex systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Programming and Commissioning: Preferably with Distech and/or Siemens, to configure and integrate control systems for HVAC and building automation.
- Testing & Verification: Perform point-to-point checkout, calibration, and functional testing to verify systems meet design specifications.
- Documentation: Track and document punch list items and deficiencies across design, mechanical, electrical, and controls.
- Customer Interaction: Demonstrate system operation to customers, the design team, and third-party commissioning agents.
- Quality Control: Inspect installations and programming for quality assurance.
- Training: Provide system training to customers to ensure they understand system operation and maintenance.
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of direct experience with DDC control systems.
- HVAC Knowledge: Working knowledge of HVAC system components, including VAV, fan coil units, terminal boxes, RTUs, AHUs, and basic 4-pipe systems.
- Control Devices: Understanding of control devices (inputs/outputs) and calibration methods.
- Wiring and Electrical: Knowledge of low voltage wiring and electrical conduit installation.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Communication: Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and work with cross-functional teams.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work outside normal hours and weekends when required.
- Licensing: Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
