BAS Technician – Jacksonville Florida

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Automation Technician to join our team. As a Building Automation Technician, you will play a crucial role in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of building automation systems (BAS) within commercial properties. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of various building systems, such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), lighting, security, and energy management. Your expertise will contribute to optimizing energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and overall building performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify proper subcontractor installation of building automation systems, including control panels, sensors, actuators, and other equipment. Installation shall be compared to approved BAS submittals and construction documents.
  • Implement, configure, and test building automation system programs provided by Project Engineer. Functionality testing shall be compared to approved BAS submittals and construction documents.
  • Implement, configure, and test building automation system GUI provided by Project Engineer. Functionality testing shall be compared to approved BAS submittals and construction documents.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system faults, malfunctions, and alarms found during system function tests to ensure proper system performance.
  • Keep accurate records of system installations, project repairs, and changes performed during the project duration and provide them to Project Manager and Engineer for closeout documentation.
  • Ensure project implantation compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Provide technical support to end-users and building occupants regarding BAS functionality, operation, and user interfaces.
  • Training to stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in building automation systems.
  • Assist the sales team as needed with preparing reports, proposals, and cost estimates for BAS projects and system upgrades.
  • Assist the BAS Service team as needed with inspections and preventive maintenance to identify and resolve any performance issues or malfunctions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or an associate degree in a related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience in building automation, HVAC systems, electrical systems, or a similar field.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in commercial buildings.
  • Strong knowledge of building automation protocols, such as BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.
  • Proficiency in using BAS software, programming languages, and diagnostic tools for system configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve complex system issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with clients, team members, and end-users.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to company protocols.
