Job Title: HVAC Building Controls Sales Engineer / Estimator

Job Purpose:
You will be providing bid estimates and proposals for Building Automation projects. You will bid and manage long-term customer relationships/partnerships with targeted mechanical contractors, MEP consultants and building owners to secure new construction opportunities.
What you’ll be doing:
- Reviewing plans and specifications in order to produce estimates for projects
- Performing walk throughs of existing facilities to identify solutions and provide estimates
- Working with prime contractors to develop scope and communicate on bid day
- Working with electrical subcontractors giving clear scope and direction in order to receive install numbers
- Working with consulting engineers to influence specifications
- Contributing to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed, recommending options and courses of action, and implementing directives.
- Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Creating detailed proposals for bid day
- Negotiating bids with customers and contractors
- Meeting/exceeding sales goals
- Creating competitive, accurate, high quality and timely estimates, bids, proposals, and cost/benefit analysis
- Effectively writing, presenting and communicating bids
- Negotiating value, addressing resistance when demonstrated and closing the sale with optimal profit levels.
- Analyzing customer needs with the help of a manager
- Effectively partner with companywide team members to accurately quantify materials and labor costs
- Working closely with customers, architects and engineers to ensure satisfaction and provide technical support
- Preparing pre-design documentation and budgeting for customers
- Working collaboratively with all team members to ensure a smooth transition from prospect status to client status
- Conducting post sale follow up and turnover with internal teams to ensure all sales agreements have been accomplished per company standards, and customers are fully satisfied
- Maintaining overall account management responsibilities for assigned accounts. Developing accounts by tracking and analyzing services provided; interviewing key customer personnel; identifying and evaluating additional needs; identifying and evaluating new opportunities
Personal Skills and Experience You’ll Need
Technical skills and education:
- Three years’ experience in building automation and controls, estimating or control technician
- Ability to develop credible estimates and proposals
- Knowledge of construction documents and processes
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook and Project.
