BAS Engineer – Denver Colorado

We have a solid team of experienced and respected technicians. Our business continues to grow, and we are looking for a solid Controls Engineer that is interested in a long-term position and who will fit well into our team.

Our Controls Engineers are responsible for performing programming, graphics, application engineering, installation, and commissioning of new Building Automation Systems. They assume the day-to-day coordination of specific projects and agreements as assigned, to ensure contractual commitments are met in a timely, cost effective manner.

 

Summary of Job Functions:

  • Technical:
    • Fully design controls projects from sales estimate and proposal
    • Create quality controls submittals and drawings
    • BOM selection including controllers, controls devices and valves
    • Program Niagara N4 and Honeywell controls line products.
    • Build as-built drawings from field notes
    • Configure third party controls devices
  • Knowledge:
    • Interpret mechanical and controls drawings, sequences and design intent
    • Develop sequences of operation in retrofit applications and identify deficiencies in engineered sequences
    • Commissioning assistance of new and retrofitted control systems
    • Troubleshooting and diagnostic of new and existing controls systems
    • Identify additional controls opportunities and deficiencies
    • Sales assistance as needed on technically complex or sensitive project opportunities
  • Leadership:
    • Take ownership of assigned projects
    • Ensure quality installation and commissioning/checkout standards
    • Technically support other controls engineers and installation technicians
    • Train customers on operation of completed projects
    • Manage time to ensure timely project completion and keeping productive
  • Interpersonal:
    • Develop positive relationships with customers
    • Maintain good working relationships within company and with vendors
    • Communicate and schedule directly with customers
  • Logistical:
    • Purchase controllers, devices and installation materials
    • Ensure installation team is prepared and equipped for projects

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • 5+ years of controls project design/engineering experience
  • 10+ years of HVAC controls experience
  • Experience programming N4 (including Kit Control) and Honeywell Spyders
  • Experience troubleshooting new and existing electrical controls circuits and devices
  • Experience with engineering controls solutions and providing detailed as-built notes
  • Extensive technical knowledge of HVAC systems (pressure dependent/independent VAV, chilled and hot water, various terminal air units, specialty equipment etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop rapport and productive working relationships with clients, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Strong organization and time management/planning skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of controls project design/engineering experience
  • 5+ years of HVAC controls experience
  • Over 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Strong written and verbal English skills
  • Valid driver’s license with driving record in good standing
  • Able to pass stringent background checks

Compensation & Benefits:

Average Starting Rate: $40.00 – $50.00/hour. Combined experience, education, skills and knowledge will be taken into consideration.
