Building Automation Technician – BAS (Building Automation Systems Manager)

We are seeking a BAS Programmer that can program and commission building automation systems. Individuals will be expected to assist with design, Install or Supervise Installation of and program BAS controllers and integrate to third party systems, create graphics, and execute functional performance testing on Building Automation Systems (BAS) to meet market requirements and project goals for commercial and industrial facilities. Experience should also include development of graphical user interfaces and commissioning of projects.

Job Duties:

  • Communicate with customers and in-house technical and engineering staff
  • Assist with design, estimating and installation of various building automation systems.
  • Support existing Mechanical Service Base with troubleshooting, repair and adjusting of existing automation systems and components. Provide emergency support to both Customers and In-house Mechanical and Electrical Staff.
  • Integrate various Tridium/Niagara based controllers to new and existing Mechanical and HVAC Systems. Oversee and/or assist with installation of controls systems to control Boilers, Chillers, Process Water Systems, RTU’s, Air Handlers, etc. Complete Programming and commissioning of the same.
  • Develop and Program Graphical Display to Monitor and adjust Mechanical Systems operation. Provide Training in operation of same.
  • Integrates 3rd party systems/equipment such as BACnet, LON, and Modbus on Chillers, Boilers, VFD’s, Generators, Rooftop Units (RTU’s), VRF’s, FAS, etc.
  • Provides onsite and offsite technical support during installation, start-up, commissioning, and turnover processes.
  • Participates in onsite walk-throughs, formal commissioning, and customer demonstration/ training on  projects.

Qualifications Experience:

  • Candidate must be Tridium/Niagara N4 Certified
  • Three (3) or more years of experience programming BAS and integrating with third party equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills, including creating graphics for commercial BAS graphical user interfaces.
  • Solid knowledge and practical experience with computer networks and advanced knowledge and practical experience of BAS Networks.
  • Advanced knowledge of the controls concepts and strategies for commercial building HVAC mechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of commercial building Mechanical & Electrical operations.
  • Understanding and practical experience with the Electrical and Electronics concepts associated with BAS Direct Digital Control Systems (DDC).
  • Experience programming the following product lines is helpful: Andover, Schneider Electric EcoStruxure, Tridium, and Niagara, Trend,  Novar, Trane. Carrier, Johnson Controls Programming experience with other BAS platforms is a plus.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) PLC’s “Logix” platform families of controllers, MicroLogix PLCs, ControlLogix PLCs and CompactLogix PLCs would be beneficial.
  • Ability to proficiently read Mechanical and Electrical blueprints.
